ECAs 2015 regulation will affect low sulphur #oil in #Med

image

New legal requirement will lower the maximum allowed content of sulfur in fuel burned in the ECAs (Including the Baltic Sea, North Sea and English Channel) to 0.1% sulfur from todays 1.0%, which according to current price levels increases price by aprox 300 $/mt. This expected increase will transferred to Med customers in the range of 50 to 150 $/MT for 40 to 30 kt cargoes depending on transit time inside ECA areas and whether touching ECA areas at both origin and destination. This cost will fluctuate depending on the volatility of low sulfur fuel prices.
